Crystal DeForest
Crystal DeForest (she/her) is a transgender lesbian living in Tokyo, Japan. She is a writer and visual novel developer. Inspired by indie comics and visual novels by other trans creators, Crystal thought, "I should make some gay stuff too", beginning to try her hand at writing in late 2022. Together with her wife Sadie, Crystal releases visual novels under the label "Air Gong". Her first release was for the 5th Spooktober Jam in 2023, titled "A Trick and a Treat". It consisted of one creepy short story by Sadie, and a sweet one written by herself.
She has developed several visual novels since then, using both Ren'Py and Decker. Her work has been featured in Indiepocalypse and short-listed at the Melbourne Queer Games Festival.
Currently, Crystal is working on a prequel to her visual novel Prisoner of the Mist, an original sci-fi project in collaboration with a friend, and many other writing projects that may or may not become something bigger!
When not making visual novels, Crystal enjoys playing visual novels. When it comes to non-VN activity, she loves reading comics, watching movies, cuddling plushies, petting cats and bunnies, drinking coffee, and hanging out with the lovely trans community in Tokyo! She wants to put her whole heart out there, even if it's scary!
